The mixture of classic horror and sci-fi blends extraordinarily well — think Edgar Allen Poe meets H.G. Wells, dipped in 1960s psychedelia.

When engineers working on a new extension to the London Underground at Hobb's Lane uncover what they at first think is a large unexploded bomb, their first instinct is to call in the army. But when the army is unable to explain the strangely shaped skulls found within the cylinder, they turn to famous scientist Bernard Quatermass to divine the origins of the skulls and explain their strange effects on people... Originally written for television by the legendary Nigel Kneale, Quatermass and the Pit is one of the finest - and most unique - films to come from the Hammer stable.
