Screened in tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto (1952 - 2023)

Set in a Japanese P.O.W. camp during World War II, Lt.Col. (and translator) John Lawrence (Tom Conti) tries to bridge the cultural divide between fellow prisoner, Jack Celliers (David Bowie) and honor-bound Camp Commander,. Yanoi (Ryuichi Sakamoto). As well as staring in the film, Sakamoto also composed the award-winning soundtrack - the main theme of which is quite simply one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed for film.
