Warren Beatty and Julie Christie star, respectively, as the eponymous gambler and brothel madame, who decide to pool their resources in an attempt to make it rich in a snowbound settlement in the Old West. But McCabe’s dreams are bigger than his ability to realise them and Mrs Miller is out to protect herself… As funny as it desperately sad, McCabe and Mrs Miller's haunting power derives as much from the performances of the two leads as it does from Leonard Cohen's mournful soundtrack.
