When boxer Joe Pendleton (Robert Montgomery) is killed in a plane crash on the way to a championship fight, he learns that wasn't supposed to die, but was brought up to heaven too soon by an overeager angel (Edward Everett Horton). Attempting to make amends for their celestial error, the angel's boss, Mr. Jordan (Claude Rains), sends Joe back to earth in the body of a murdered playboy to live out a new life and hopefully resume his boxing career… Here Comes Mr Jordan is one of the earliest ‘body swap’ comedies, and was remade in the 70s as Heaven Can Wait.
