Screened in tribute to Terri Garr (1944 - 2024)
Teri Garr and Frederic Forrest play a Las Vegas couple whose break-up on the 4th of July leads them both to a night on the strip in pursuit of their romantic fantasies (Raul Julia and Nastassja Kinski respectively). But in this town of gamblers and dreamers, should they bet it all on dreams, or give true love another roll of the dice?
Widely regarded as an ambitious miss-fire in 1981, the film's gained more and more fans over the years, not least after Coppola released his 'reprise' version earlier this year. Come for the folly, stay for breathtaking design, show-stopping set pieces, Vittorio Storaro's stunning photography and an Oscar-nominated score by Tom Waits.
