The Naked Civil Servant (Jack Gold, UK, 1975)

NCS
Mr Hurt is born to play victims. He played me and then he played Caligula, which is only me in a sheet.
— Quentin Crisp

To coincide with Pride weekend and in light of the recent shooting in Orlando, we will be screening Jack Gold's brilliant adaptation of Quentin Crisp's 1968 autobiography, The Naked Civil Servant. Originally filmed for television, the BFI recently placed The Naked Civil Servant in fourth place for their 100 Greatest TV Programmes of the 20th Century. And Hurt gives an unforgettable performance as Crisp. Essential viewing.
