Gloria (John Cassavetes, USA, 1980)

Gloria
John Cassavetes clearly set out to make a commercial film, but, intransigent personality that he was, he turned in a slice of pure avant-garde.
— Dave Kehr, Chicago Reader

When a young boy's family is killed by the mob, their tough neighbour Gloria (Gena Rowlands) becomes his reluctant guardian. In possession of a diary containing a record of illegal Mafia activities, the pair go on the run in New York.
