Stolen Kisses (Francois Truffaut, France, 1968)

  • The Star 47 Chester Road London (map)
A movie so full of love that to define it may make it sound like a religious experience, which, of course, it is — but in a wonderfully unorthodox, cockeyed way.
— Vincent Canby, New York Times

This year, our friends at the LOCO London Comedy Film Festival are supporting venues across the capital to show Francois Truffaut’s Antoine Doinel series as part of their ‘Liberté, Égalité, Hilarité’ celebration of French comedy.

We showed 400 Blows, the first film in the series, a few years ago. In Stolen Kisses, it’s 1968, and Antoine has been dishonourably discharged from the army. Released onto the streets of Paris, he embarks on a series of romantic misadventures in the lightest, most mischievous film of the series.

The film stands alone so don’t feel you have to have seen the others. But if you do, this is where else they are screening

LOCO are also kindly supplying us with free wine & snacks  for this screening - but please note: because of free wine & snacks this screening is members-only. But non-members are more than welcome to join on the night. Membership is £15 for the year & includes 20% off food on a Film Club night, 10% off food on a non-Film Club night. And a year's worth of free film screenings. Natch.
