The moment when English comedy took its first decisive step into the second half of the 20th century.
— Kenneth Tynan

Beyond the Fringe was a British comedy stage revue written and performed by Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, Alan Bennett, and Jonathan Miller. Opening in the West End in the early 60s, it moved to America and where it became a Broadway hit. Hugely influential, it is widely regarded as the seminal show that lit the blue touchpaper for the 1960s satire boom and opened the floodgates for a raft of bright young things to breathe fresh life into British comedy. Recorded live for television, Duncan Wood's film was assumed long-wiped by the BBC and lost forever, but was rediscovered in 2005. It still packs a punch and, of course, is still hilariously funny.
