Finding it difficult to make ends meet on her husband's salary alone, a house-wife from a middle-class, conservative family in Calcutta gets a job as a saleswoman and finds that she revels in her new-found freedom. But her independence and burgeoning confidence alarms her traditional family and threatens to throw her life into chaos
