Burt Lancaster stars as middle-aged, middle-class suburbanite Neddy Merrill, who one sunny summer day decides to swim his way home via his neighbours' pools. But as Neddy makes his way home pool by pool, the mood begins to darken and Neddy's world begins to unravell... Adapted from John Cheever's brilliant short story, this is bizarre vision of the ennui at the heart of 1960s America and a lost gem of a movie.
